Organic Cotton washcloth sets and towels!

I make a lovely washcloth set using the organic cotton fabric and rolled hems.  They are approximately 12 x 12.
Once used they soften and feel wonderful  I've included 3 in the handmade paper bag with or without a bar of  mild moisturizing handmade soap.  There are 2 scents in the smaller bars right now, a light sandlewood and light lavendar scent.  You can see a detail of some of the washcloths.  I usually like to put 3 different types into the set a plain pebble or herringbone, waffle weave and a chenille.  These are all organic cotton.
You can choose between the all natural or brown or a combination of both!
I have an 18x24 inch towel offered also.  You can specify the type of fabric and if you'd like the brown hemming.
These are available on my website http://chamomileconnection.com/gifts-and-tools.html
or my Etsy store https://www.etsy.com/shop/ChamomileConnection
Send a note if you want something not listed in the shopping cart.  These are organic cotton towels with the ruffle edge.
Both of these are lovely to use or give as a gift.
I will take custom orders and adjust shipping cost for your area.

October Botanical "Eco" Print Scarves

It's been so long since I've posted.   Just an awful lot happening in life isn't there?  Here are some of the recently finished scarves I've been working on.

The first is using an iron to change the colors on the courser silk from Cambodia

This is on Flat Silk Scarves

Purple carrot, Prickly Pear Cactus fruit "tunas", onion skins and leaves

I used copper to get the blue colors.  You can see the 3 leafed sumac and onion skins here

these are some Japanese Maple leaves

Botancial Dyes again

The hollyhock silk scarf changed with washing!  I'll need to check out the ph of the Bronner's soap!

Here is what happened with the textured silk scarf/shawl that I redyed with sunflowers, marigolds, some hollyhocks and the daylilies can still be seen a little as blue.  I used alum to set the color with this one.

Will had some molded hollyhocks so I boiled them up and got the brown at the bottom of the scarf....this is where they dye bath penetrated.  I think it would have looked nice all the way through.  You can see where the strings were that I tied it to the pvc pipe....they resisted as did some of the willow leaves.

Botanical Printing

Well...I'm learning.  I think I need to process them longer for better color and I have a few things to learn.  These are silk scarves using the "black" or dark pink hollyhocks and I tried using willow leaves.  The hollyhocks leave a lot of color! The yellow is the pollen from the center of the flower.  The willow leaves really didn't do anything...need to learn how to get them to release their color.

Here are the bundles wrapped and in the steamer

New Shawls

These shawls are made with a variety of yarns that add a lot of color and texture.  The rayon chenille adds a lot of softness .  I'm playing with something called differential shrinkage to shape the shawl from the woven fabric.

The first one is a large shawl, very roomy and will work for a larger person or wrap a smaller to keep real warm.

This is a smaller shawl and has some added texture because of the angora yarn used.

I'm really seeing how my messy studio is in these photos!!!

Handspun knit shawl

The Vulpix is a scarf designed by Stephen West of West Knits.  I knit this using handspun tussah silk and a silk/merino top dyed by Red Fish.  Just thought I'd share.

Wool Colonial Rag Rug

I've been making these rugs for quite a while...taught to me by my good friend Sarah Noggle.  We strip the wool and add the Shaker Chevron for embellishment.  The warp is cotton rug warp and it's doubled. They are machine washable and can be dried, but I usually hang them to dry. They last really well. I make these on my really heavy duty loom called a Cranbrook.  We weighted the beater to make sure it gets beat tightly and I don't have to bang the  @#%^&*! out of it.

Entrelac Tam

I became obsessed with learning to knit Entrelac just recently.  It's been a goal for quite a while, so when Kathryn Alexander put out a video I knew this was the time.  She's a really good teacher.  She has so much to teach and talks so fast...you pause the video.  But her directions are clear and here are the results.
This is the first sample

Sampler using the new techniques of making a box and points

The finished Tam!!  Using all handspun yarn some are hand dyed with natural dyes.

Shawl/Scarf

This past last year I put some kits together, some sold and I had a couple to play with.  I thought I'd try "boneyard" by Stephen West in the 3 hand dyed and handpainted silk skeins I'd chosen to see how it looked and worked.  I was surprised that I was actually knitting from the top town instead of the point up!  I like what it looks like!  These are dk weight single silk and a fingering weight in the lighter teal/blue.  I dyed the yarn and sell a selection of silks at festivals and through my website.
